Petting to Improve Health

Rabbit

Dogs are man’s best friend“. We all have heard of this many times and also seen it in many movies. Have you watched this movie “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale“, if not then I recommend you to watch it.

I often get questions from friends and family, don’t they smell, don’t they do potty at every corner of the house, don’t they put their mouth in your food, etc. My simple answer to all of them is, is their behaviour different from what we see in kids, when we can train our kids to behave then the same applies to pets also.

I am a pet friendly person and I love to take care of them. I have 4 rabbits and 2 lambs at my home. My kids and I spend a lot of time giving them baths, feeding them and loving them. This exercise has brought me not only close to the pets, but also made our family bond stronger. My kids were earlier afraid of these pets, but now they treat them as family members. I don’t have to teach my kids that animals do have life and they need to be treated better. My kids first feed the pets and then they eat, it has made them more responsible even at a small age.

Since we bought pets at home, I have been exercising a lot and in fact has helped me lose some extra kilos. Sometimes when I’m very tired taking care of the household chores and I feel low on energy, I spend my time with these pets, petting and talking to them. Yes I do talk to them and they respond back to me. It helps me relieve my stress.

It has been scientifically proven that petting helps improve fitness, reduce stress and keep the owners happy. Some of the health benefits include:

  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Decreased cholesterol levels
  • Decreased triglyceride levels
  • Decreased feelings of loneliness
  • Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities
  • Increased opportunities for socialization

Through this blog I would like to request all of us to take care of animals and pets. And also please let me know your feedback and share your pet photos.

  1. Hachi is a very beautiful story of a dog and his love to his master. I was moved by it. I wish we all have Hachi in our life.

But more important do we deserve it, do we take good care for pets like the master did to his dog.
