The Finger licking popsssss – Chicken Lollipop

Chicken Lollipops

This is every Indian’s (non vegetarians) favorite appetizer. This Indo-Chinese dish is liked by all people of any age. Kids enjoy them the most. This is one of the most sold dish in any Chinese or Desi restaurants.

Chicken Lollipops are prepared in many ways, and served in many variations.

I will suggest something simple which is easy to prepare with most common use ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 12 chicken lollipops (you can peel the skin or leave it, but add some cuts to the chicken), If chicken lollipop’s are not available, then go for chicken drumstick.
  • 1 and 1/2 tea spoon Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1 tea spoon Red chili powder
  • 1/2 spoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 – 1 tea spoon Salt as per your taste
  • 1/2 tea spoon Garam masala
  • Food color (optional)
  • Lemon juice
  • 2 – 3 table spoon Corn flour
  • 2 – 3 table spoon Besan
  • 1 table spoon rice floor (optional)
  • 1 Egg beat it well

Marination for Chicken Lollipop:

  • Clean and dry up the chicken and some cuts to it.
  • Add Ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric, salt, garam masala, lemon juice to the chicken and marinate it well.
  • Add food color, corn flour, besan, rice floor and egg.
  • Marinate it and keep it aside for 30 minutes

Frying Chicken Lollipop:

  • Heat oil in a Karahi/pan
  • Fry the chicken on medium flame for 5 – 7 minutes on one side.
  • Turn the chicken pieces and fry for another 5 – 7 minutes
  • Don’t fry on high flame or chicken would not cook from inside
  • Fry till you get a nice brown color (not dark brown/black).

Take out the chicken lollipop, squeeze out the extra oil by putting it on a paper towel. Munch on the hot, crispy chicken lollipops.

Chicken Lollipops are good by itself. You can add a twist and enhance the flavor by coating it with Schezwan sauce.

Take a pan, heat 2-3 teaspoon of oil, add some cut ginger to it, add some fine cut onions till it turn light brown, add 2 tea spoon or black soya sauce, 2-3 table spoon of Schezwan sauce and fry it. Add the fried Lollipop to the sauce and toss it for couple of minutes and your spicy garlic Schezwan Chicken Lollipop is ready.
